About the photographer

Neal Ulevich took pictures for Associated Press in Vietnam 1970-1975. At the end of the war, he moved to Bangkok, Thailand, where he worked as AP's regional photographer. He won the Pulitzer Prize for news photography in 1977 for photos made during a political upheaval in Bangkok. AP assignments in Japan and China followed.

Ulevich returned to the United States in 1990. He retired from AP in 2002 and currently freelances in the Mountain States. He lives in Denver.

Our domain name, watermargin, is the title of one of China's classics of literature. In the West the story is known better by the name Pearl Buck gave it in her translation: All Men are Brothers.
