Doc Holliday, some-time dentist, full-time gambler and ally of the Earp brothers at the O.K. Corral shootout, died of tuberculosis at Glenwood Springs, CO on November 8, 1887. He is buried there, although local legend has it the remains were placed elsewhere in the cemetery - not beneath the monument - to foil possible grave desecration by foes. Visitors to the tomb left the whiskey bottle and Confederate flag visible at left.
