U.S. Army Gen. George Crook, 1830-1890, Indian fighter, is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. A bronze bas relief on the back of his tomb recreates with artistic liberties the parley at which some Apaches surrendered to him but others, including the famous renegade Geronimo, eluded capitulation. The bas relief is based on images made by the famed Tombstone, Arizona, photographer, C.S. Fly.
