Cristopher 'Kit' Carson

Famed trapper and scout Kit Carson is buried at Taos, NM, his home for much of his adult life. Carson died of an aneurism in the surgeon's quarters at Ft. Lyons near present day Las Animas, CO. Carson's wife Josefa, who died a month earlier of complications following child birth, also rests at Taos.
